Championing Child Justice and Empowerment

Meet Maryann, the esteemed Chairperson and Board member at Bright Day Kenya. A distinguished alumna of the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Law, Maryann holds an LLB degree and a diploma in Law from the prestigious Kenya School of Law.

Maryann’s remarkable career has been marked by her unwavering commitment to advancing the cause of children in Kenya’s justice system. Her expertise extends to cases involving children in conflict with the law and child victims, as well as matters concerning children in need of care and protection.

One of her most notable contributions to the betterment of children’s lives is her collaboration with the “I Am Responsible Foundation” (I Rep Foundation), a grassroots organization nestled in the heart of West Pokot. Here, Maryann passionately advocates for the eradication of harmful cultural practices, promotes education for marginalized girls, and champions women’s empowerment.

A significant milestone in her journey was her intervention at Ortum Girls School in West Pokot, where she secured a substantial number of computers and a laptop for the students, ensuring their access to cutting-edge technology and educational resources.

In addition to her work with I Rep Foundation, Maryann has been a steadfast supporter of various children’s homes in Kenya, including Limuru Children’s Home and the Africa Centre for Child Care and Protection, formerly known as Nuru Africa. Her compassion and dedication have left an indelible mark on the lives of countless children in need.

Maryann is not only a compassionate advocate but also a certified mediator with a solid foundation in arbitration. Her multifaceted expertise and unwavering dedication make her an invaluable asset in the pursuit of justice and empowerment for children in Kenya.
